Um olhar fenomenológico sobre o corpo e envelhecimento no mundo contemporâneo

Abstract

Various factors have contributed to the growth in life expectancy of the population in many countries, which has led to an increase in the elderly population. Dealing with the subject of the body and ageing often seems to be an expected and well-known subject in terms of the content that is occasionally discussed in social groups. The crystallization of this topic removes the possibility of appearing and manifesting new forms of aged human existence without the labels already established by others. The reflection I propose investigates what approach phenomenology takes to the body in ageing. This research seeks to understand how aging is portrayed in contemporary Western society, as well as presenting concepts from Edmund Husserl's Phenomenological Psychology as a way of guiding understanding of the phenomenon of aging, without losing sight of the ways and structures of the approach to the body and aging in Brazilian Psychology and the perspectives presented by phenomenology. To this end, I carried out a qualitative study, based theoretically and methodologically on Edmund Husserl's phenomenology, carrying out an exploratory review in the first part of the investigation with the aim of historically situating the concept of ageing over time. After this, I will begin a survey in the periodicals database of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel Foundation - CAPES Periodicals, about themes in the field of psychology research in Brazil. The descriptors I will use are as follows: Ageing, corporeality, phenomenology and Psychology, within a time interval of 5 years, and only research at national level will be valid. Once I have the research findings, I will use Prisma Flow as a way of organizing and synthesizing the data found, always guided by the phenomenological attitude, which is presented through epoché, eidetic reduction and transcendental reduction. The preliminary results I have found reveal a bias in the research which, for the most part, comes from the area of health, closely linked to the notion of physical illness, fall prevention and promoting bodily well-being.
