Educação em saúde às pessoas assistidas pela associação de proteção e assistência ao condenado de Imperatriz-MA

Abstract

This research analyzes the educational process in health of the subjects assisted by the Association for the Protection and Assistance to the Convicted of Imperatriz-MA. In this perspective, we base our objectives on a qualitative approach, as it provides an opportunity to understand the meanings attributed by the interlocutors in a specific context. As a data collection instrument, we used interviews with professionals involved in the institution and people deprived of their liberty, in addition to documentary and bibliographic research. In this way, we seek to work the narratives of the interlocutors through the triangulation technique in all the chapters of the dissertation. In view of the research, it was noticed that APAC, as it is an entity of the third sector, still suffers some abandonment by the State and depends a lot on the collaboration of volunteers. We observed the countless efforts that APAC has been making since its foundation in Imperatriz-MA, by establishing partnerships that contribute to the health education process assisted by the methodology. However, we can infer that there is difficulty in establishing and guaranteeing these partnerships, therefore, there is a lack regarding the effectiveness of some rights. With regard to health education for subjects assisted by APAC, we noted active and joint participation between professionals, recovering and volunteers, but we inferred the possibility that this process could be improved. Thus, APAC, despite the great advances, also suffers from the scarcity of public policies aimed at the population deprived of liberty, especially with regard to education and health, even because, in this line of thought, the value of the human being is measured by the moralistic and punitive view on the part of society that, in turn, ignores the rights of others, especially that public. After carrying out the training with APAC professionals, aiming to contribute to the health education process, we realized that the proposed modalities were already being worked out timidly, however, they were not visualized in a contextualized way, without seeking to involve the recovering more actively in the process of participatory learning.
