Da opressão à subversão: imagens e representações do feminino em Niketche: uma história de poligamia, de Paulina Chiziane

Abstract

ABSTRACT The object of study and general theme that will be addressed in this research is related to the female representation shown in the Niketche: uma história de poligamia, written by Paulina Chiziane. The issue addressed by the work is the relationship between genders in Mozambique. The guiding questions are based on answering: how does the literata approach the female figures in the novel? Besides, what is the place of man and woman in your literature? And yet, that social roles are attributed to men and women in accordance with the gender relations of Mozambican society? Our general objective is to analyze the different representations of gender in the Mozambican novel Niketche: uma história de poligamia, and specifiedly, to make a reading of the cultural representations between women from the North and those of southern Mozambique; understand the historical-literary production of the said author, as well as the influence of the griotic tradition on her writing; and, reflect, from the trajectory of the character Rami, about the role of the woman represented in said work of the author and how this constitutes in the light of the structures of power in Mozambique, considering the visible symbols, practices or customs, culturally established. From the methodological point of view, the research is of a basic nature, with no practical application provided. As for technical procedures, it was decided by a bibliographic research, based on materials already published on the subject, primarily sources such as books, secondarily: articles, dissertations, theses and etc. The theoretical-methodological axis that structures this research is based on works on gender relations produced by authors such as Joan Scott (1995), Judith Butler (2003) and Teresa de Lauretis (1994); the focuses on Mozambican literature, are based on the propositions of Hampatê Bâ (2010), Pires Laranjeira (1999) and Leite (2020).
