Título: CONHECIMENTOS, ASPECTOS COMPORTAMENTAIS E PERCEPÇÕES DE IDOSOS PORTADORES DO HIV/AIDS ATENDIDOS EM UM CENTRO DE REFERÊNCIA ESTADUAL DO MARANHÃO

Resumo: Este estudo analisou conhecimentos, aspectos comportamentais e percepções dos idosos portadores de HIV / AIDS atendidos em um centro de referência estadual do Maranhão. Trata-se de um estudo epidemiológico, transversal, descritivo, com abordagem quantiqualitativa. Foram incluídos todos os pacientes portadores do HIV/ AIDS com idade igual a ou maior de 60 anos, em tratamento no Hospital Presidente Vargas, em São Luís-MA, entrevistados entre os meses de janeiro e junho de 2010, num total de 46 idosos: 28 do sexo masculino e 18 do sexo feminino. Os dados evidenciaram o seguinte perfil: predomínio de homens (61%); pardos (52%); com média de idade de 60 a 65 anos (57%); estudaram até o ensino fundamental (50%); solteiros (63%); católicos (80%); a maioria procedente de Pinheiro (40%). 91% moravam em casa alugada, de alvenaria (83%), com média de 03 a 04 cômodos (54%), 01 a 03 moradores (52%); renda mensal individual e familiar de até R$ 500,00(52% e 48% respectivamente) e uma média de até 2 filhos(50%). 78% estavam aposentados. 50% referiram assistir à TV como forma de lazer. Relataram participação em palestra sobre DST/AIDS, no entanto, quando questionados sobre a transmissão do vírus e a segurança nas práticas sexuais, um grande número demonstrou não ter conhecimento ou ter dúvidas a esse respeito. Observou-se que todos conheciam a camisinha. 61% sempre costumavam usá-la, 43% tinham dúvidas quanto a como colocá-la e como retirá-la; 76% obtinham-na nos serviços de saúde. O não uso da camisinha foi justificado por 38% pelo fato de não gostarem de usá-la ou preferirem sem. Todos foram infectados por via sexual e em relações heterossexuais. 61% tinham diagnóstico de HIV/AIDS de 8 a 11 anos. Nos discursos dos sujeitos, observou-se que não conheciam nada, ou quase nada, antes de se contaminarem, e várias são suas representações sobre a AIDS: doença do outro ; incurável ; fatal , que pode levar à morte e impregnada de discriminação e preconceito. O diagnóstico positivo e a convivência com o HIV/AIDS é carregado e permeado de sentimentos negativos não apenas por parte do indivíduo portador, mas também de sua família, o que denota a necessidade de reestruturação da vida de cada um através de recursos de enfrentamento.
Abstract: This study analyzed knowledge, behavioral aspects and perceptions of elderly people with HIV / AIDS seen in a state reference center of Maranhão. It is an epidemiological, transversal, descriptive, quantitative/qualitative study. Were included all patients with HIV / AIDS aged 60 years or more that were under treatment at Hospital Presidente Vargas in São Luís-MA, interviewed between January and June 2010, total of 46 elderly: 28 male and 18 female. Data showed the following profile: predominance of men (61%); brown (52%); mean age 60 to 65 years (57%); studied up to primary (50%); unmarried (63%); catholics (80%); most of them came from Pinheiro (40%). 91% lived in rented, masonry accommodation (83%), averaging 03 to 04 rooms (54%), 01 to 03 residents (52%), individual and family monthly income until R$ 500.00 (52% and 48% respectively) and an average of until 2 children (50%). 78% were retired. 50% reported watching TV as a pastime. Reported participation in a lecture on DST / AIDS, however, when asked about the transmission of the virus and security in sexual practices, a large number showed no knowledge or have doubts about that. It was observed that everyone knew the condom. 61% always used to use it, 43% had doubts about how to put it and how to remove it, 76% obtained the condom in health services. 38% justified don t using the condom because don t like it or prefer the relationship without condom. All were infected through sex and heterosexual relationships. 61% were diagnosed with HIV / AIDS from 8 to 11 years ago. In the speeches of the subjects, was observed that they knew nothing, or almost anything, before that they were defiled, and many are their representations of AIDS, "the other disease," "incurable", "fatal", which can lead to death and imbued with discrimination and prejudice. The positive diagnosis and living with HIV / AIDS is loaded and full of negative feelings not only by the individual carrier, but also his family, which indicates the need to rebuild their lives through each coping resources.
