Título: Protocolo de comunicação: para profissionais de saúde que atuam no ambulatório de cirurgia e traumatologia bucomaxilo facial do Hospital Universitário da Universidade Federal do Maranhão Autor: ALMEIDA, Ozana Carolina Lins Siqueira Primeiro orientador: RABÊLO, Melissa Silva Moreira Abstract: The research investigates communicative practices at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology Outpatient Clinic (CTBMF) of UFMA’s University Hospital, Presidente Dutra unit, in São Luís, Maranhão, proposing the development of a protocol of best communication practices aimed at health professionals working in this service. The main objective is to develop a protocol to guide healthcare professionals on the adoption of clear, accessible and humanized communication strategies with patients undergoing treatment for facial trauma. The specific objectives were to analyze the communication process in the CTBMF outpatient clinic, identify obstacles in communicative interaction and produce a guidance material in printed and digital formats for professionals working at the CTBMF outpatient clinic. The study adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, based on simple observations of the empirical context and semi-structured interviews, which served as the basis for the investigation. Data were recorded in a field diary and through interview transcriptions to be later organized into thematic categories, analyzed in the light of the theoretical framework. The use of graphs was purely illustrative, without altering the qualitative nature of the research. Data collection in empirical field took place between May and July, 2025, and was methodologically based on Lakatos and Marconi (2018), Lopes (2018), Gil (2008), Andrade (2020) and Renó (2024). The theoretical framework included Lopes (2004), Araújo and Cardoso (2007), França and Simões (2016), Stevanim and Murtinho (2021), whose works discuss communication and health. As a result, a protocol of best communication practices was developed and organized in categories like reception, complex information communication, management of expectations and standardization of procedures. The product shows potential for replication in other CTMBF outpatient clinic contexts, contributing to more humanized care, patient safety and more effective communication in healthcare. Studies indicate that half of medical malpractice claims involve communication problems, either among professionals or between professionals and patients. In this context, the present study aimed to develop a hospital communication assessment scale-EACH (In Portuguese) focused on nursing teams, through a qualitative ethnographic approach conducted in a pediatric medical-surgical ward of a public hospital in São Luís, Brazil. Data collection included participant observation and a semi-structured questionnaire, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the communication dynamics, identification of failure factors, and analysis of the effectiveness of communication among nurses. Findings show that communication goes beyond information transmission: it is a relational, symbolic, and cultural process essential to integrality and continuity of care. The proposed scale represents an advance in the development of specific tools for communication assessment, contributing to improved care management, patient safety, and the strengthening of nursing’s role in the hospital environment. Título: Complexo de Pedrinhas: histórias de amor e ódio no presídio que chocou o país Autor: SOUZA, Larissa Silva Primeiro orientador: SOUSA, Li-Chang Shuen Cristina Silva Abstract: This work is a applied research whose that developed a reportage book that cover the events that happened during the Pedrinhas Complex continued riot in 2013/2014. The reportage book tell stories of people who lived the rebellion and approach the different aspects of this case. The commotion around the prison generated a media event with the spectacularization and trivialization of barbarism. From bibliographical and documental research, besides semi- structured and individual interviews with persons deprived of liberty, egress from the prisional system, relatives, employers and ex-employers of the penitentiary complex, and other people connected to the event, was developed a reportage book based on discussions about the trivialization of evil (ARENDT, 1999), grotesque communication (MUNIZ, 2002) and the historical belonging of the black people to the prison scenery (FOUCAULT, 2010). This work also analyze the aspects of the investigative and literary journalism. From the research, it was possible to identify that the events of the Complex were not isolated, but are part of the Prison System Crisis on Brasil, driven by overincarceration and scrapping of the investigative police. Then, the barbarism used on Pedrinhas served as a strategy of a mediatic event with the aim of drawing attention to humanity problems that the units were experiencing.
