Abstract: This research focuses on Afro-Brazilian art at the 35th São Paulo Biennial and the teaching of
visual arts, from the perspective of ethnic-racial and anti-racist education, through an
interdisciplinary approach between visual arts and social sciences. The study is justified by the
need to analyze Afro-Brazilian art and its relationship with visual arts education. The central
research question seeks to examine and investigate how the Afro-Brazilian artworks exhibited
at the 35th Biennial can serve as tools for ethno-racial education practices within the teaching
of visual arts. The objective is to map, analyze, and discuss Afro-Brazilian artworks that may
contribute to the development of visual arts education. The methodology adopts a qualitative
and inductive approach and includes bibliographic and field research, based on photographic
documentation and cataloguing of artistic productions. The study engages with theoretical
frameworks proposed by Roberto Conduru, Grada Kilomba, Emanoel Araújo, Kabengele
Munanga, and Abdias Nascimento, whose contributions are key to reflecting on identity,
racism, and representation. Preliminary findings indicate that the 35th Biennial opens important
pathways by strengthening Afro-Brazilian culture in art education, contributing to the
appreciation of Black narratives, and challenging Eurocentric paradigms that still prevail in the
art world and in the field of art education.

Abstract: Botany teaching involves several complexities, as it encompasses a wide range of topics,
concepts, and terminologies that are often difficult to explain. Studies indicate that addressing
botanical content in the classroom represents a significant challenge, as it is commonly
perceived as tedious and demotivating. Within this context, it becomes necessary to seek
strategies and methodologies that optimize the teaching–learning process. The central
problem of this research revolves around the phenomenon of plant blindness, understood as
the human tendency to overlook plants in everyday life. Thus, this study aimed to analyze
how the integration of active learning methodologies and traditional knowledge about plants
can enhance students’ botanical awareness in the educational context. This study is
characterized as action research with a qualitative approach, in which data collection
followed the phases of planning, action, description, and evaluation. The findings revealed
that the integration of active methodologies with traditional plant-related knowledge
significantly contributes to reducing plant blindness among students. It can therefore be
concluded that valuing traditional knowledge, combined with active pedagogical strategies,
promotes greater engagement, interest, and a more meaningful relationship between students
and the plant world.

Abstract: This research proposes an interdisciplinary investigation into Indigenous ceramics, with a
focus on the production of the Yudjá people, located in the Pakayá village within the Xingu
Indigenous Park (MT), in dialogue with the ceramic legacy of the Maranhão's pile dwellings.
Drawing from anthropology, archaeology, and visual arts, the study seeks to understand how
ceramics function as an aesthetic, technical, and symbolic language: expressing memory,
identity, and resistance among Indigenous peoples. The analysis takes contemporary
exhibition such as Véxoa: We Know (2020) as reference, questioning the displacement of
ceramic artifacts from their territories of origin to the exhibition space, and the symbolic and
political implications of this movement. The research also engages with photographic records
by Larissa Menéndez from 2014, originally published on the now-unavailable Visual Virtual
MT website, highlighting the urgency of preserving and critically analyzing this archive.
Grounded in the theoretical perspectives of authors such as Berta Ribeiro, Claude
Lévi-Strauss, and Walter Mignolo, the study explores the processes and poetics embedded in
Yudjá ceramic practices, understanding ceramics as a form of collective and memory-based
production. By addressing ceramics as a living cultural artifact that moves between ritual,
daily life, and the museum, this dissertation aims to contribute to the discourse on the modes
of existence and representation of Indigenous cultures in contemporary Brazil, advocating for
the recognition of their knowledge systems and aesthetics as legitimate forms of knowledge
production and artistic expression.

Abstract: This research investigates heritage interpretation in museums, focusing on the Maranhão
Railway and Port Museum, considering interpretation as a communication strategy that makes
cultural heritage accessible, understandable, and meaningful to the public. The main objective
is to analyze the use of heritage interpretation as a tool for the preservation and communication
of cultural heritage within the museum context in Maranhão, aligning with the program’s
Culture, Education, and Technology research line by exploring educational and communicative
practices mediated through interpretive resources. This is a qualitative study, with
bibliographic, documentary, and field approaches, adopting an interdisciplinary perspective
that engages the Humanities and Social Sciences, particularly museology, history, cultural
heritage, and heritage education. The investigation involved museum visitors selected by
voluntary participation and employed content analysis and heritage interpretation categories to
assess the effectiveness of interpretive media and institutional communication. Results
indicated that the museum is attractive and has interpretive potential, although it presents
limitations and specific characteristics that could be improved. This research contributes to the
advancement of knowledge on heritage interpretation, demonstrating how mediation strategies
can articulate heritage, memory, and identity, guide integrated cultural policies, strengthen
administrative partnerships, and enhance the visibility and impact of museums and cultural
spaces in diverse contexts, providing a foundation for future theoretical and practical research.
